The Egyptian music distributor and DJ, Ramy, who is famous as RAAM BAND, has established himself as a prominent name in Mizika events. He has decided to revive the musical heritage by presenting a traditional song in collaboration with the Egyptian folk artist, Hajazi Matekal.

RAAM BAND revealed his intention to compile some Egyptian traditional music by the world-renowned artist, El-Rees Matekal, by redistributing it with the vocals of Hajazi Matekal’s daughter. He mentioned that he had planned this idea with Hajazi since 2010, but it was put on hold due to the circumstances of the revolution. Now, he has decided to bring it back at this time and intends to shoot it as a music video. He also mentioned that this idea came to him after presenting a series of African traditional music, which he arranged in collaboration with several African bands during his journey through Kenya, Tanzania, and Zanzibar, where he performed music concerts in North and East Africa in a previous period. He was also influenced by some concerts he collaborated on with the world-renowned Eastern jazz musician, Yahya Khalil, and the Ghanaian jazz musician, Ibu Tiller.

He explained that he started blending Eastern and African musical heritage with global music during his performances in Porto Ghaleb village in Marsa Alam. It became a fertile platform for hosting numerous stars from Egypt, the Arab world, Europe, and America, including Beyoncé, Nabil Shuail, Abdullah Al Rowaished, Haifa Wehbe, Myriam Fares, Nancy Ajram, Mohamed Mounir, Mohamed Hamaki, and Mohamed Fouad.

He added that this had a significant impact on encouraging him to pursue the idea of combining Egyptian and global heritage in a song with Hajazi Matekal, reflecting the Egyptian style and character.
