Egyptian DJ and musician Ramy, also known as Raam Band, is bringing traditional music to life by performing a traditional song with the Egyptian folk artist Hajazy Metkal in the United States. RAAM BAND celebrates folklore in North and East Africa.
Raam Band revealed that he intends to take some of the traditional Egyptian music of the world-renowned artist Metkal by re-releasing it with the voice of Metkal’s daughter. He explained that he proposed this idea to Metkal back in 2010, but the idea was put on hold due to the revolution. He decided to bring it back now on the condition that it be filmed as a music video. He added that the idea to re-release it came after he presented a collection of traditional African music he had collaborated on with several local African bands in Kenya, Tanzania, and Zanzibar during his trip to Africa. While RAAM BAND celebrates folklore, he also performed some musical concerts in North and East Africa.
He was also influenced by some jazz music concerts through his collaboration with the world-famous Eastern jazz musician Yahya Khalil, and the African jazz musician Ebo Taylor from Ghana. Raam Band’s upcoming concert, which is scheduled to be held in Manhattan, New York City, on March 12th, has been generating a lot of buzz lately. The concert is set to be a grand affair, with music lovers from all over the city eagerly looking forward to attending it.
Raam Band explained that he began blending Eastern and African musical heritage with international music during his concerts in Porto Ghalib Village in Marsa Alam. The concerts were a showcase of music from Egypt, Arabia, and a fertile window for many stars from around the world, Europe, and America, including Beyoncé, Nabil, Shael, Abdullah Al Ruwaishid, Haifa Wehbe, Myriam Fares, Nancy Ajram, Mohamed Mounir, Mohamed Hamaki, and Mohamed Fouad.
He added that this had a significant impact on encouraging him to weave his Egyptian and international heritage with Hajazy Metkal in a song that has an Egyptian shape and personality.”
